Gabriela Cannon receives GSSTA Athlete Funding
Gabriela Cannon, a 15 year old swimmer, from Albany Swimming Club, has qualified to compete in the Age National Championships in 2017 and is a member of the 2016/2017 Swimming WA Performance Pathway – Country Squad.
Gabriela will be competing at
- State Championships from 19th - 23rd December 2016
- Country Championships from 6th - 8th January 2017
- Performance Pathway Clinic in Perth on 9th January 2017.
William Rollo, Performance Pathways Officer, Swimming WA believes that the GSSTA support will provide benefit to Gabriela allowing her to train and compete at a level required to perform at her personal best on a National level.
GSSTA’s grant of $600.00 will assist Gabriela to have access to a Sports Psychologist to assess psychological barriers to optimal performance and learn strategies to manage competing in competition environments.
Marshall McAlesse, Head Coach, Albany Swimming Club advised that Gabriela is a member of the Marlins Training Squad and undertakes the full training program with the goal of qualifying and competing at Age National Championships in 2017 and has the physical capability to achieve National qualifying times.
